Hearing Indigenous Voices from Ntaria
On the itinerary of the LCA RAP Project Team’s listening visit to central Australia in April, 2018, a visit to Ntaria, otherwise known as Hermannsburg was planned for Sunday 15 April.
Arriving early Sunday morning, we were led in worship by Aboriginal Pastors Marcus Wheeler and Rodney Malbunka, with the predominantly Aboriginal congregation of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hermannsburg. This service as usual was delivered in the local Western Arrarnta language, with us non-Aboriginal speaking people appreciating the impact of language in a community. Members of the working group shared a lunch with the congregation, followed by time with members talking with and listening to matters relating to the ministry of the gospel in the community.
