The Song Keepers
‘The Song Keepers’ – a unique historical legacy and tribute to the endurance of cultures, languages and histories of the Aboriginal peoples in Central Australian Lutheran communities.
August 6, 2021, sees the fourth anniversary of the release of ‘The Song Keepers’ movie. Coinciding with this anniversary is the release of an Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Study guide – aligned to the Australian Education Curriculum.
This resource does not have to be limited just to schools. With a little creative thinking, there is great scope for this same resource to be adapted for small study groups in local congregations and parishes, strengthening awareness and providing glimpses into some of the cultures, languages and histories which have endured over the past 150 years acknowledging the strong, deep and mutually respectful relationships between the workers of the Lutheran Church and the Aboriginal peoples of Central Australia.
The Song Keepers movie is currently available to watch for free until 31 May 2024 on SBS On Demand. [click here]
